You know Cinnamon for it's ability to flavor food, but did you ever stop to think about the health benefits? *Did you know that Cinnamon can also be used for: promoting circulation both internally and when applied to the skin, maintaining a healthy immune system, promoting oral health, and helping to alleviate sore muscles and joints?*
*How can it do this you ask? Cinnamon Bark essential oil contains the following properties: Antibacterial (active against bacteria); Antidepressant (alleviate depression); Anti-inflammatory (reduce inflammation); Antiseptic (prevent the growth of disease-causing microorganisms); Astringent (used to protect the skin and to reduce bleeding from minor abrasions); Immune Stimulant (raises the body’s immune levels); and Sexual Stimulant (substance that increases sexual desire).
*What ways can you use Cinnamon Bark oil?
Put 2 drops in an empty veggie capsule once or twice a day for immune support. You can also add a drop or two of On Guard and Lemon too.
Place 1 drop of Cinnamon essential oil in hot water or tea and drink slowly to soothe the throat. (Remember to use glass or metal, never plastic!)
Put 2-3 drops in a glass spray bottle with filtered water for a quick air freshening spray, or mix with white vinegar for a quick disinfecting cleaning spray.
Place one drop on your toothbrush then add toothpaste. Brush as usual.
Dilute with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO) then apply to cold, achy joints during winter time. A good ratio to start with is 1 drop Cinnamon to 1 Tbsp FCO.
Diffuse three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
For those who can "take the heat" - mix 1 drop in 4 oz of water and drink. You can also swish and swallow for added oral health benefits.
**Possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you are pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid contact with eyes, inner ears, and other sensitive areas.
I love to mix Cinnamon oil in Immune-Boosting "tea" - a mix of 6oz hot water, 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar, 1 Tbsp local honey, 2 drops Cinnamon EO, 1 drop Lemon EO and 1 drop of On Guard EO. Sip and enjoy.
